Join Ilkley Rifle and Pistol Club
The club is fully open to prospective new members.
As a Home Office Approved Gun Club the membership process is subject of formal oversight. This is not an onerous process and ensures that safety and security can be maintained, in summary the club process is as follows:
- All prospective members must initially attend a non-shooting visit to the clubhouse.
- New members must satisfactorily complete a probationary period – a minimum of three months and twelve visits for those not holding a firearms certificate.
- All non-firearms certificate holders can only use air rifles or air pistols during their probationary period. Full members wishing to shoot .22” rim-fire cartridge firing rifles are provided with additional instruction.
- Junior members under the age of 18 must be supervised by a family member or Guardian over the age of 21 when visiting the range. A Parent, Carer or Guardian’s written permission must accompany the completed membership application form if the applicant is under the age of 18.
The club has air rifles, air pistols and .22” rim-fire cartridge rifles to support members during their probation and beyond; in theory an individual does not need to purchase a gun during their membership of the club.
Because it is a Home Office Gun Club it is appropriate to state that the club does not run a day or temporary membership scheme, nor does it run experience days, events or host parties.
